Core Curriculum Defined

The Common Core Curriculum is beginning to appear in many school districts across the United States. The purpose is to initiate a program that will provide a clear and consistent understanding of what students are supposed to be learning. The course material will be used universally. This is important for both those who are involved in the learning process of the students to help them with their education consistently.

The Common Core Curriculum is a grouping of courses that all students will have to take and will be considered to be the necessary coursework for the general education of all students, regardless of any other majors or courses that are being pursued. It is called a communal learning system where students will learn from the same textbooks and learning materials at the same timeframe. The beginnings of the 20th century was the time where this whole concept has started. This is becoming even more vibrant in the 100th year since it has been put into practice.

There is some controversy over the Common Core Curriculum however, in that it is basically a top down, universal implementation of the same coursework for all students, which takes away a significant amount of local control over the schools. There is also another debate emerged from this concept. Such debate is relevant to the fact that those states that approved such curriculum is getting better scores when applying for financial support from the government. Although there are many states who have considered the new curriculum, there are still those who actually haven’t. Such states include Alaska, Virginia, Nebraska, Minnesota and Texas.

Some debates revolve around the concept that the traditional has been changed with what other refer to as educational contents about the government. Various individuals think that it is something that is used for other purposes. That is to publicize or promote the government. Those details are offered in a very technical manner, in which reviewers uphold that the inappropriate twist can just be simply put upon the significance that such files remain in our country.

Various critics are not really happy regarded the way math is presented. The subjects will become even more complicated for high school students. Critics reveal that there will be a low standard education due to this and wont even reach the international standards. However, the proponents of this concept provided some evidences that will show various successful results with its implementation. In spite of all the arguments, the decision still remains on the hand of those instructors. This will serve as the most essential influence upon the learners. The knowledge and values that will be instilled on students still depend on their instructors. Their skills and values can greatly affect their student’s learning.
